// Angélique Kidjo
Born in the small port of Ouidah, Benin, on July 14th 1960, Angélique Kidjo has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame since she embarked on a solo career in 1989. The singer has brought out a dozen albums, two of which were nominated for Grammy Awards. Kidjo is known for her firebrand live appearances and her devotion to several humanitarian causes. In 2007, she brought out her most ambitious CD so far, Djin Djin, with guest stars from around the world.
